ABSTRACT
Objective: It is aimed to examine the image perception of university students towards the nursing profession and related factors during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic process. Material and Methods: The sample of the cross-sectional study consisted of students studying at a public university (n=419). The research data were collected through Google Forms between April and May 2021, using the 'Descriptive Information Form' and the 'Image Scale for Nursing Profession'. Number, mean, percentage distribution, independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance tests were used in the statistical analysis of the data. Results: The mean age of the university students participating in the study was 22.64±3.22, and most of them were women. The mean score on the Image Scale for the Nursing Profession of university students is 141.50±9.50. Having COVID-19, positive perspectives towards nursing before and after COVID-19 significantly affected the total scale scores of the Nursing Profession Scale scores of students (p0.05). Conclusion: In the study, it was found that university students had a moderately positive image of the nursing profession and the image was affected from the perspective of having had COVID-19 and before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, but age, gender, income level, place of residence for a long time, graduated high school, faculty and the state of being a familiar nurse in the environment were not affected.
