ABSTRACT
Objective: Purpose of this study the aim of this study is to determine the subjective well-being levels and related factors of individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Material and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study was conducted in a hospital in Samsun province between 01 May-30 June 2019, with 150 individuals diagnosed with MS, aged 18-69, registered in the neurology outpatient clinic, who met the inclusion criteria of the study. The sample size of the study was determined by the A Priori power analysis of the G* Power 3.1 program. Personal questionnaire and Subjective WellBeing Scale were used to collect data in the study. Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS V23. Independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used to compare normally distributed data according to demographic characteristics. Subjective Well-Being Scale reliability analysis was analyzed using Cronbach alpha. Correlation analysis was evaluated with Spearman rank correlation. Results: Themeanage of individuals diagnosed with MS is 42.1 and 61.3% of them are women. 35.4% of the participants are primary school graduates, 75.3% are married, 58.7% have the same income as their expenses, and 40% have the disease for more than 11 years. Subjective Well-Being Scale mean score was determined as 166,25±31.78. Scale score averages of those with less income and expenses were determined as 153.1±34.2, and subjective well-being levels of those with less income than expenses were determined as low. Conclusion: As a result of the study, subjective well-being levels of individuals with MS were found above the average value.
