ABSTRACT
Moral distress is a process that starts with a stress factor regarding a moral problem, runs through cognitive and emotional processes, and ends with a stress reaction, resulting in physiological, emotional, cognitive and behavioral responses. Emotional reactions such as anger, guilt, frustration and despair, and physiological reactions such as muscle pain, diarrhea, sleep disorders and fatigue may occur as a result of moral distress. Patient care is a professional responsibility of nurses. Nurses should have a good moral attitude in the care and treatment of pediatric patients whose primary responsibilities are carried out by their parents. Pediatric nurses should take into account the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of the child they care for and postpone their personal interests and desires. Moral distress is a major concern among care providers in the health care system over the past 30 years, therefore, in this article, the moral difficulties experienced by pediatric nurses and the influencing factors were discussed in line with current studies.
