ABSTRACT
Objective: It is a cross-sectional and correlational study designed to determine the relationship between the safety measures taken by mothers of kindergarten children for home accidents and health beliefs. Material and Methods: The research was completed with 314 people. The data of the research conducted with mothers between 07.11.2017-18.01.2018 in 11 public kindergartens in the city center of Bolu.; It was collected using the 'Person Information Form', 'Scale for Describing the Safety Precautions of the Mother for Home Accidents in Children aged 0-6' and 'Parental Health Belief Scale'. Results: The mothers participating in the study; It was determined that 43.6% of them were in the 35-40 age group, 57.0% of them were university graduates, 61.1% of them worked in an income-generating job and 67.5% of them had income equal to expenses. It was found that 62.4% of the children had a home accident. It was determined that the mean score of the Scale for Describing the Safety Precautions of the Mother for Home Accidents in Children aged 0-6 was 167.6±20.9, the chance factors of the Parental Health Belief Scale were 17.0±6.4, the internal factors were 13.0±2.7, and the external factors were 32.0±4.3. It was determined that as the age of the mothers increased, the safety measures they took to prevent home accidents and the dimension of internal control increased. Conclusion: It was concluded that the less chance factors belief of mothers is, the more safety precautions they take for home accidents. It is recommended to establish programs for the prevention of home accidents for young mothers, large and broken families, those with boys, those whose children have had more than one home accident, those with a diagnosed disease, those who do not have first aid knowledge, and mothers who do not take precautions at home about situations that may pose a risk of home accidents.
