ÖZET
 Amaç: Cerrahi birimlerde yatan hastaların sağlıkla ilgili bilgiye ulaşmak için interneti kullanım durumlarını ve internetten edinilen bilginin hasta kararlarına etkisini saptamaktır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırmanın örneklemini, bir üniversite hastanesinin cerrahi birimlerinde yatan 300 hasta oluşturdu. Veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 22,0 paket programı kullanılarak, ki-kare ile analiz edildi. Ayrıca, çalışmada sayı, yüzde, ortalama ve standart sapma kullanıldı. Bulgular: Katılımcıların %44,0'ünün evinde, %67,0'sinin ise telefonunda internet bulunmakta idi. Hastaların %54,7'sinin herhangi bir sağlık sorununa yönelik olarak, %51,7'sinin ise cerrahi kliniğinde yatmasına neden olan sağlık sorunu hakkında bilgi almak için interneti kullandığı belirlendi. İnterneti kullanma nedenlerinin başında; hekimin koyduğu tanı hakkında bilgi alma (%64,4), semptomları anlayabilme (%50,0) ve hekim seçme (%49,4) gelmektedir. Hastaların cerrahi kliniğinde yatmasına neden olan sağlık sorunu ile ilgili olarak interneti kullanma nedenlerinin başında ise ameliyat (%58,7), hekimin koyduğu tanı (%47,7) ve verilen tedavi (%47,7) hakkında bilgi almak yer almaktadır. Sağlıkla ilgili bilgi edinmek için interneti kullanma ile yaş, eğitim, evde ve telefonda internetin olması, yaşanılan yer ve gelir düzeyi arasında anlamlı fark bulunur iken, cinsiyet açısından anlamlı bir fark saptanmadı. Sağlıkla ilgili bilgi almak için interneti kullananların %61,0'inin internetten edindiği bilgileri kısmen güvenilir bulduğu belirlendi. Sonuç: Hastaların yarısından fazlası, sağlıkla ilgili bilgi edinmek için interneti kullanmaktadır. Ancak, yaklaşık üçte ikisi internetten elde ettiği bilgileri güvenilir bulmamaktadır.

ABSTRACT
 Objective: The study was carried out to determine internet use of patients' who were hospitalized at surgical units to reach the health-related information and the effect of acquired information from the internet on patient decisions. Material and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study was consisted of 300 patients who were hospitalized at surgery units of a university hospital. The data of the study were processed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 22.0 package program and analyzed using chi-square test. In addition, number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used in the study. Results: It was identified that 44.0% of the patients had internet access at home and 67.0% of them on mobile phone. It was found that 54.7% of the patients used internet to get information about any kind of health problem while 51.7% of them about the health problem that caused them to be hospitalized at the surgery unit. Major reasons for using internet were to get information about the diagnosis made by physicians (64.4%), to understand symptoms (50.0%) and to choose physicians (49.4%). Patients' main reasons for using internet to get information about the health problems that caused them to be hospitalized in the surgical wards were to achieve information about operation (58.7%), physicians' diagnosis (47.7%) and the provided treatment (47.7%). There were significant differences between using internet to get information about health and age, education, internet access at home and on phones, place of residence and income level whereas there was no significant difference between using internet to get information about health and sex. It was also found that 61.0% of those who used internet to get information about health found that information partly reliable. Conclusion: More than half of the patients used internet to get information about health. However; nearly two third of them did not find that information obtained from internet reliable.

1. TERMS OF USE

1.1. - Providing structural, statistical and editorial support to article preparation stage for scientific journals.

4. GENERAL PROVISIONS

4.1. "Turkiye Klinikleri" is completely free to determine which of the services and contents provided in the "SITE" will be charged.

4.2. People benefiting from the services provided by "Turkiye Klinikleri" and using the website can use the "SITE" only according to the law and only for personal reasons. Users have the criminal and civil liability for every process and action they take in the "SITE". Every USER agrees, declares and undertakes that they will not proceed by any function or action infringement of rights of "Turkiye Klinikleri"s and/or other third parties', they are the exclusive right holder on usage, processing, storage, made public and revealing any written, visual or auditory information reported to Turkiye Klinikleri" and/or "SITE" to the third parties. "Force majeure" term will be regarded as outside of the concerned party's reasonable control and any situation that "Turkiye Klinikleri" cannot prevent even though it shows due diligence. Also, force majeure situations include but not limited to natural disasters, rebellion, war, strike, communication problems, infrastructure and internet failure, power cut and bad weather conditions.

8. LAW AND AUTHORISATION TO FOLLOW

Turkish Law will be applied in practicing, interpreting the hereby "Terms of Use" and managing the emerging legal relationships within this "Terms of Use" in case of finding element of foreignness, except for the rules of Turkish conflict of laws. Ankara Courts and Enforcement Offices are entitled in any controversy happened or may happen due to hereby contract.

9. CLOSING AND AGREEMENT

Hereby "Terms of Use" come into force when announced in the "SITE" by "Turkiye Klinikleri". The users are regarded to agree to hereby contract terms by using the "SITE". "Turkiye Klinikleri" may change the contract terms and the changes will be come into force by specifying the version number and the date of change on time it is published in the "SITE".
