ÖZET
 Amaç: Bu çalışmada, bir üniversite hastanesinde israf olan kan ve kan ürünlerinin miktarını, israf nedenlerini ve israfın maliyetini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırma retrospektif türde kesitsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın evrenini bir üniversite hastanesinde 1 Ocak 2020-31 Aralık 2021 tarihleri arasında israf olan kan ve kan ürünleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada örneklem seçimine gidilmeyerek, evrenin tamamı değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde PivotTable raporlarından ve tanımlayıcı istatistiklerden faydalanılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmada kan ve kan ürünlerinin %0,8'nin israf olduğu bulunmuştur. İsraf oranı en yüksek bileşenlerin taze donmuş plazma (%52,6) ve eritrosit süspansiyonu (%31,2) olduğu tespit edilmiştir. En önemli önlenemez israf nedenini klinik gereklilik nedeniyle istemi yapılan ancak kullanılmayan kan ve kan ürünleri (%36,7) oluştururken, önlenebilir israf nedenlerinin çoğunluğunu son kullanım tarihi geçmiş ürünlerin (%23,7) oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmada toplam israf maliyetinin 43.530,890₺ olduğu ve bu maliyetin 23.632,76₺'sinin önlenebilir nitelik taşıdığı bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Çalışmada en fazla taze donmuş plazma ve eritrosit süspansiyonu israfı yaşandığı, en önemli israf nedenlerinin klinik gereklilik nedeniyle hazırlanan ancak kullanılmayan kan ürünleri kaynaklı olduğu saptanmıştır. Çalışmada, kan ve kan ürünleri israf maliyetinin ciddi bir boyutta olduğu ve bu maliyetin büyük bir kısmının önlenebilir nitelik taşıdığı saptanmıştır. Değerli bir kaynak olan kanın klinik kullanımının doğru bir şekilde değerlendirilmesi, ulusal transfüzyon güvenliği politikalarına uyum sağlanması ve israfının en aza indirilmesi için süreçlerin iyi yönetilmesi önemlidir.

ABSTRACT
 Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the amount, causes of wastage, and cost of wasted blood and blood products in a university hospital. Material and Methods: The study was designed as a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population of the study consists of wasted blood and blood products in a university hospital between January 01, 2020-December 31, 2021. Sample selection was not made in the study and the entire population was taken into consideration. Descriptive statistics and PivotTable reports were used to evaluate the data. Results: In this study, it was found that 0.8% of blood and blood products were wasted. It was determined that the products with the highest wastage were fresh frozen plasma (52.6%) and red cell concentrate (31.2%). The most of the preventable causes of wastage are experienced due to expired products (23.7%), while the most important cause of unavoidable wastage is blood and blood products that are requested due to clinical necessity but not used (36.7%). In the study, it was found that the total cost of wastage was ₺43,530.890 and ₺23,632.76 of this cost was preventable. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the most wastage of blood and blood products were fresh frozen plasma and red cell concentrate, and the most important causes of wastage were blood products that were prepared due to clinical necessity but not used. It was found that the cost of blood and blood products wastage was at a serious level and most of this wastage was preventable. It is important to properly evaluate the clinical use of blood, which is a valuable resource, to comply with national transfusion safety policies, and to manage processes well in order to minimize its waste.

"Force majeure" term will be regarded as outside of the concerned party's reasonable control and any situation that "Turkiye Klinikleri" cannot prevent even though it shows due diligence. Also, force majeure situations include but not limited to natural disasters, rebellion, war, strike, communication problems, infrastructure and internet failure, power cut and bad weather conditions.

8. LAW AND AUTHORISATION TO FOLLOW

Turkish Law will be applied in practicing, interpreting the hereby "Terms of Use" and managing the emerging legal relationships within this "Terms of Use" in case of finding element of foreignness, except for the rules of Turkish conflict of laws. Ankara Courts and Enforcement Offices are entitled in any controversy happened or may happen due to hereby contract.

9. CLOSING AND AGREEMENT

Hereby "Terms of Use" come into force when announced in the "SITE" by "Turkiye Klinikleri". The users are regarded to agree to hereby contract terms by using the "SITE". "Turkiye Klinikleri" may change the contract terms and the changes will be come into force by specifying the version number and the date of change on time it is published in the "SITE".
