ABSTRACT
It has always been a problem to restore teeth that have lost too much tissue due to many factors such as caries, trauma, previous restorations, erosion, attrition and abrasion, and even weakened after endodontic treatment. The restoration of endodontically treated teeth with postcore systems is one of the most risky procedure in dental practice. Restorative and prosthetic treatment of a tooth that has undergone endodontic treatment generally depends on the amount of remaining healthy tissue, the prognosis of the applied core restoration, and the clinical adaptation of the restoration with structural and aesthetic qualities. Nowadays, with the increase of aesthetic expectations and the development of adhesive systems, the choice of post-core systems has increased. Demand for increasingly aesthetically and biologically compatible materials has led to the development of non-metallic post-core systems. Fiber-reinforced systems have started to be incorporated into routine clinical care more frequently. In this survey, retrospective and prospective clinical studies dealing with cast-post-and core and fiber posts were reviewed regarding the rate of survival of restorations and the most prevalent failures. In addition, the impacts of surface treatments on the retention success of post systems and a new post core sysytem named high performance polyetherketoneketones have been mentioned. The aim of this review; was to asist dentists in deciding the treatment to be applied to endodontically treated teeth with too much substance loss.

Keywords: Post and core technique; endodonticly treated teeth; review literature; plastic, carbon fiber reinforced; fiberglass; polyetheretherketone; surface treatment
