Objective: Emotional intelligence is a very important concept in nursing education. However, it is emphasized that there are concrete gaps in research on this concept in our country. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between nursing students' emotional intelligence levels and their perceptions of self-efficacy in clinical performance and risky health behaviours. Material and Methods: The descriptive and correlational study was conducted between March 2023 and December 2023 with 301 nursing students. The data for the study were collected at the students educational institution through face-to-face interviews using the ''Personal Information Form'', ''Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form'', ''Self-Sufficiency Scale in Clinical Performance'' and the ''University Form of Risk Behaviours Scale Descriptive'' Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: It was found that the students included in the study had a mean age of 22.05±2.76, 56.1% were in their 4th year, and 69.4% were female. A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was found between students' emotional intelligence levels and their self-efficacy perception scores in clinical performance (r=0.439, p=0.000). No significant relationship was found between students' emotional intelligence levels and risky health behaviours (p>0.05). Conclusion: Emotional intelligence seems to be an important factor in increasing nursing students' self-efficacy perceptions in clinical performances. Although our study did not find a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and risky health behaviours among nursing students, the limited number of studies in the literature on this topic, as well as the varying results obtained, indicate a need for further research in this area.
