Objective: The addition of a new member to the family causes significant changes in family dynamics. Parents may have difficulty adapting to the process and managing parenting stress while taking on new responsibilities regarding the care and development of their babies. For this reason, correctly assessing parenting stress is very valuable in determining the needs of parents and ensuring the healthy development of babies. The aim of this study was to develop the Parenting Stress Scale (PSS) in order to determine the parenting stress levels of parents with babies between the ages of 0-2. Material and Methods: Data collected from 176 parents living in the city center of Istanbul via Google Form were used for the validity-reliability study of the scale. In the study, the General Information Form created to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants and the PSS, developed by the researchers to determine the stress levels of the parents, were used as data collection tools. The Lawshe method was used for the content validity of the scale, while exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and item total correlations were examined for construct validity. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to test the reliability of the scale. Results: As a result of the analyses, it was determined that the values obtained were within the expected reference range and the construct validity of the scale was ensured. The internal consistency rate of the scale consisting of one dimension and 26 items was measured as 0.942. Conclusion: It was seen that this scale, developed to determine the level of parental stress, is a measurement tool with validity and reliability that will contribute to professionals and researchers working in the field.
